Including city in all website title tags

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Including city names in all website title tags seems to have impact on Google Maps ranking. The title tag is as almost as critical for local rankings as it is for web search rankings. Therefore, including city names in all or most website title tags helps in Google Maps SEO. Of course, including multiple city names in all title tags works only in non-competitive market. If it’s a competitive market, I recommend you to include one only city name that your physical location belongs to. This is a good way to target geo-based keyword such as “DUI attorney [city name] [state name]“.

Positive Ratings in Google Maps

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010

Searchers can choose to sort the results they see by ratings, so it definitely has an impact on how often your listing is seen. They say that Google engineers deny giving ranking weight to ratings values. If Google Maps users see a positively-rated business, they may click through at a much higher rate than lower-rated businesses. Google could be giving ranking weight according to Click Through Rate (CTR) of Google Maps listings – in which case Ratings could indeed have an indirect yet significant impact upon Google Maps rankings. In conclusion, positive ratings on Google Maps reviews have some impact on your Google Maps Rankings.
